Hrithik used to get the best of salads and health foods.


The atmosphere on the sets of Jodhaa Akbar was always tense, with everyone trying to get their shots right under the leadership of a very demanding Ashutosh Gowarikar. However, the crew let their hair down during the break-hours at Karjat.

Says a source from the sets, Though there was excellent food provided on the sets, Hrithik, Poonam Sinha and the other members brought their own food from home. The lunch hour was the highlight of the day as the cast and crew hade a regular routine of pot luck, with everyone bringing in all sorts of goodies from home.

Adds the source, Hrithik used to get the best of salads and health foods, while Poonam Sinha brought delicious Sindhi kadhis, suji ka halwa and gulab jamuns. Aishwarya Bachchan however, preferred to eat the food offered on the sets. She hardly ever ate anything. The other cast members like Kiran and the DOP (director of photography) got vegetarian fare from home, on account of the Shravan month.

When contacted, Poonam Sinha, who is making an appearance on screen after 30 years in order to play Hrithik’s mother (in the character of Akhbar’s mother Hamida Baano) confirmed, It’s a hectic schedule on the sets while shooting, but the lunch hours were great fun.

Adds the source, The working day began very early in the morning with all the preparations, make-up and the costumes that needed to be taken care of. So all team members looked forward to the lunch hours.
